BEST OF 2010: Paramore

Looking back in time, American rock band Paramore had quite a year. They spent almost all of it on tour, promoting their latest album Brand New Eyes (amazing record by the way).  At the ending of last year, they released their first two singles which were Ignorance and Brick By Boring Brick and on this year, they released Careful, Playing God and The Only Exception. I have to say that I’m love with the whole album (of course there is the normal exception Turn It Off was like… ugh..).
Talking about numbers, well, the band really sold a lot of albums, which means that Hayley’s got herself a couple of more dollars than before. They managed to go platinum on countries like Australia and United Kingdom, and gold in places like Ireland and the United States (just to do mention of some).
Still, not everything was sun and flowers for the band, just recently two of the members made an announcement, where they stated that they were leaving the band (Josh and Zac Farro). It’s important to say that back in 2007, Hayley and Josh were dating, so even though we’re not sure, maybe there were some controversy in the band because of this, which inevitably lead to the departure of their leading guitarist and their drums guy.

Here are some of Paramore's best vids:

BEST OF 2010: Rihanna

This 2010 was one hell of a year for 22 year old Barbadian singer Rihanna, and I mean that in a good way, I’m sorry, a GREAT way. At the beginning of the year, she wasn’t doing so well with her Rated R album, even though in my humble opinion she had some amazing tracks on it, but then everything changed. I truly love her record label choices as far as which were her singles, I was in love with Hard, Te Amo and Rude Boy, I will also have liked if they’ve decided to release The Last Song but I guess there would’ve been some controversy with all that Chris Brown thing (but that’s in the past now, right?). But Rihanna is just… Rihanna, and with drama and all she managed to reach some outstanding numbers on her CD sales.

However, even though some of us thought that her year couldn’t get any better, she surprised us once again and released her incredibly-obsessive-major-hit Only Girl In The World as a little taste of what her album Loud would bring us. As always, she didn’t disappoint us. On November of this year, we finally managed to hear all the tracks that Loud contained and we fell in love with it! Actually S&M, What’s My Name and Man Down (among others) are some of the songs on my most plays list. From Loud, so far we know Only Girl In The World and What’s My Name (ft. Drake) are singles, and we really hope that her collaboration with Nicki Minaj Raining Man gets to be an official single!!!

Congratulations to Rihanna and we really hope that 2011 brings her even more money good music!

Here are some of our favorite vids from Rihanna’s year:

BEST OF 2010: Sickest tune is "We No Speak Americano"

We No Speak Americano was released on February 27 of this year, but even now in December, I still hear this song bouncing in my head. This song belongs to Australian duo Yolanda Be Cool and it was produced by DCUP. The original idea behind it was just to do a bit of a sample of classic song Tu vuò fà lámericano by Renato Carosone, BUT it ended up being a major hit all around the world.

So far, this track has gone platinum in Germany, Australia, Austria, Denmark, Spain (twice) and gold in Belgium, Italy, Sweden and Switzerland. Let's remember that in order to get a platinum record in America you need to sale 200,000 units and for the gold one you need 100,000 units sold. So, do you get now why I told you it became a MAJOR HIT?

At first, the song may sound a bit old and boring to you, but once the song reaaally starts you won’t be able to get it out of your head. In case you’ve never seen it (that was my case until 5 minutos ago), here’s the official video for this song. About the video, I think I doesn’t make the song any justice, so, if you like, just click the play button and only listen to the track!

T.I. – When pop and hip-hop collide

It’s been a while since we’ve heard a major hit from hip-hop rapper T.I., I mean, his duets with Rihanna (Live Your Life) and Justin Timberlake (Dead And Gone) were good but it’s been two years from the most recent one and I've really wanted to hear some good music collaborations recently. Of course Kanye West, Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj had made my wish come true, but I’ve also have some love for pop singer diva Christina Aguilera (some may say: So what? But I have a point I swear!) who just recently did a duet with T.I. (see, I told ya!). This incredible collaboration is called Castle Walls and as always, it makes Aguilera’s voice stand out quite good.

About  T.I., he’s relased recently his seventh album No Mercy which is in stores since December 7th, and I still haven't heard the whole album but I really hope it has some good tracks because let’s say that T.I. has not been on my recent playlists. Up to now, we only have the song, but let’s cross our fingers in the hope that his record label releases a video that does justice for Castle Walls, which will be his second single (smart choice, since it would redeem Aguilera’s career and it would be a great hit for T.I.). Here’s the song:

KANYE WEST - Monster's here!!! Nicki Minaj!! F*ck it looks good!!

Monster is the third single of Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which is an amazing album that has helped me forgetting all that bad press that he received after his "Taylor Swift" incident.  Actually, I don't own this album, but when I first heard Monster and Runaway I got the hitch of buying the album, but now that I've seen the oficial video I've totaly made up my mind and I'm buying it ASAP!

In Monster, we can hear amazing rapper Jay-Z, hip-hop diva Nicki Minaj, some other dudes that I've never heard before (Rick Ross, Bon Iver) and, of course, talented Kanye West. The video reminds me a bit of Paparazzi by Lady Gaga but it's more of a gone-wild version, and the song is just amazing. Best part honestly is Nicki Minaj's in the song and as well on the video. Check it out HERE!!!

SHONTELLE – They say she’s brainwashed but she’s in love

Rihanna’s look-a-like Shontelle has released her second album (for me it seems like a debut album honestly) titled No Gravity which is a mixture of pop, R&B, electronic and some tropical sounds. Even though she’s a newcomer, her music is absolutely good, I would even say that she reaches Rihanna’s standards because not only she looks like her, she also sound a bit like her (she looks more like her previous self, not that Rated R girl).

Just a few weeks ago, Shontelle released her second single Perfect Nightmare’s official video that follows up her first single Impossible, a beautiful track of which I’ve already talked about in HERE. Perfect Nightmare opens her big doors, since it’s catchy tune and up-tempo beat makes it a great dance song, a bit different than Impossible, but it gives her a wide repertoire. I think you will love her, but you’re the best judge when it comes to music. So here it is!

Perfect Nightmare - Shontelle

And here's a song of hers that I cannot get out of my f*ckin mind!! It's called No Gravity and its chorus is sick man!!! It's stuck in my head!

ROBIN THICKE – Seems Nicki Minaj is shakin’ it for daddy

Usually when I write about something I do a bit of research beforehand, but this time I have to say I know ANYTHING of Robin Thicke, the only thing that’s on my mind about him is that he’s a smart man by choosing to do a duet with hip-hop diva Nicki Minaj, that’s on his latest album Sex Therapy.
I know it’s been a while since this happen, but other Minaj fans (Barbies and Kens according to her) and me are still waiting for an official video for this incredible song. It’s called Shakin’ It For Daddy and even though it is a song by Robin Thicke, it only makes Nicki Minaj shine (seriously), she gets to show her hip-hop abilities that have gotten her so far. As usual, there’s nothing amazing about what she says, but the way she says it is what makes her a good rapper.

As I said, there’s no official video for Shakin It For Daddy (ft. Nicki Minaj) but we do have TV appearances, so here they are, Robin Thicke and Nicki on the Letterman Show

MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE – Drugs, gimme drugs!!! Just sing about it!!

Surprisingly amazing rock band My Chemical Romance has released another of their utopic albums, this time they are telling us a story about some kind of futuristic/retro gang that fights the typical bad guys, they are called the Fabulous Killjoys and they give a name to the album Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys.

The thing with this band is that Gerard Way is such an imaginative man and with the band (mostly him) they always comes with these outrageous worlds where their music just evolves, they did the same thing with The Black Parade (one of my favorite albums in history) and they totally killed it.

Up until now, My Chemical Romance has released two songs from the album, which are Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na) and Sing. For the first one, I have to say that the video is incredible and some of the scenes are shot on the same restaurant/bar where Lady Gaga and Beyoncé made Telephone’s official video, maybe the band did it just to criticize pop culture (but I don’t care!!!), luckily it only made it better; and for the other one, Sing is an amazing song that is actually gonna be part of the soundtrack of the next American Idol. So, I’ve write enough of this great band. Enjoy their clips!

MIA – You want me XXXO

Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam, better known as M.I.A..,  released her third studio album in July 2010 and it’s called /\/\/\Y/\ (Maya, like her name!). This album has a lot of industrial sounds, it has guitars, it has like a rock electronic element inherent in it. Maybe that’s the reason why this year M.I.A. was a source of money for the media since she was constantly ditching female artist Lady Gaga saying that she copied a lot of her previous sounds, but that’s part of the past now, because The Fame Monster was declared today the most selled album of 2010 while /\/\/\Y/\ sales weren’t a huge deal, it seams that the Bionic effect hit M.I.A. because some of the songs that it contains are incredibly good like XXXO, Teqkilla, Steppin Up and others.

Another thing that's important (in my mind i think) is the fact that M.I.A. is always criticizing the industry, and the cover of this album was no exception (youtube bars!).

Until now, M.I.A. has released 6 singles in an attempt of making some publicity for her not-so-big-of-a-seller album but the one that we like the most is XXXO, so here’s the video (tumbs of for the double sense of the chorus).

XXXO – M.I.A.

LINKIN PARK – We’ll be burn inside the fires of a thousand suns

American rock band Linkin Park reveiled their latest album A Thousand Suns on September 8 of 2010, and in that same day they opened new doors for rock music. This album is full of new styles, they mixed everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING, from fears of humanity, to electronic beats, references to the atomic bomb, etc. Their lyrics are full of… guilt (I guess you could say), for what’s going to happen to the world, it’s like they say that the final time is near and that we deserve all the bad things that will happen, and our only hope is to recur to God, like in The Requiem where it says “God save us everyone, will be burn inside the fires of a thousand suns for the sins of our hand, sins of our tongue, the sins of our father, the sins of our young” (pretty amazing lyrics if you ask me).

Reccently Mike Shinoda (the guy that raps a lot) told MTV that "On this record, the concepts blend human ideas with technology [...] Human fears, your fear of what's going to happen in the world, the music kind of references that".

So far they’ve released two singles from this album, The Catalyst and Waiting For The End, I personally like the first one most, but… here are both videos to let you decide.

The Catalyst – Linkin Park

Waiting For The End – Linkin Park

BLACK EYED PEAS – After the E.N.D. comes the Beginning

This well known American band has decided to release a new album full of a futuristic theme, electronic sounds and a whole lot of dance beats. The Beginning is the name of this record and it has some pretty good gems like The Time (Dirty Bit), Love You Long Time, Don’t Stop The Party… among others.

The thing with this band is that, I don’t know if it’s just me or WTF but on every album they’ve amazing tracks and then… some hideous records that really don’t belong to the album at all, but who knows? The Beginning is no exception to this BEP rule, so be warned if you decide to buy the album, because you will enjoy “some” of the tracks and, as some of us, you will “hate” others, but that’s how music is right?

For those of you that haven’t had the chance to watch this over the top, futuristic, beat banging video for the BEP’s single The Time (Dirty Bit), here it is only for your eyes…

KELLY ROWLAND - She's the commander b*tch!

Kelly Rowland, who first entered the mainstream along with Destiny's Child has been working on her solo career. Right now, she's working on her latest album which is schedule to drop in stores by february 2011, and it's gonna have her name as title.

Recently she has been working with producer  David Guetta, creating major hits like When Love Takes Over.

So far we are able to hear some rumors about her singles, but the only thing that we know for sure is that her first hit single is called Commander and has a special feature of David Guetta, then we have Rose Colored Glasses, Grown Woman and Forever And A Day.

Here's the official video for her lead single Commander...

Commander (ft. David Guetta) - Kelly Rowland

P.S. Did you know you can get banned from Facebook?? Well, I did not... =(

PINK - Raise your glass for her!!!

After 5 albums and 10 years of career, beloved Pink has decided to release a compilation of her greatest hits untitled Greatest Hits... So Far!!! in which we can find real gems as Don't Let Me Get Me, Sober, So What, Just Like A Pill, Stupid Girls and some new tracks like Raise Your Glass and Heart Breakdown.

Just recently, Pink confirmed to Ellen DeGeneres that she's currently expecting a lil' baby and that she really isn't that sure if that's quite a good idea since she just can't imagine a child that would be like her in her teen years, but she'll have to deal with that later on. As far as her musical career, right now she has released a clip for her latest single Raise Your Glass which is part of her Greatest Hits and this video is... practically everything P!nk stands for, so good for her!

Check the vid here...

And just to remember the great times...

FLORENCE + THE MACHINE - Best f*ckin' voice of the year!!!!

Dog Days Are Over, The Drumming Song and Heavy In Your Arms are some of the major hits british indie rock band Florence + The Machine has had from their debut album Lungs, and in case you haven't heard of Florence + The Machine, which would be very weird considering how big their single Dog Days Are Over was this year, they even had a special performance on the VMA 2010 (were they killed it!).

Their sound has been described as a combination of a lot of genres, between Rock and Soul. Their lyrics are just quite fenomenal and their vocalist Florence Welch has received great critics from the media, just recently The Times described her as "the most peculiar and most highly acclaimed female singer of the moment" (true fact). Finally, I believe that an image speaks more than a million words, so, here are some of her recent singles...

DEV - If you like Gaga, Ke$ha or Timbaland, check this out!

Born to portuguese and mexican parents, Dev. Maybe you've heard of her in the latest single of Far East Movement "Like A G6", an electropop tune which is pretty awesome actually. Well, that's how Dev is trying to jump into the mainstream with her debut album Bass Down Low

Her style is kind of electro-pop and it is absolutely recommended for those of you who like Gaga, Timbaland, Ke$ha (you get the point right?). So, here I'll leave you the official clip for her current single which is Bass Down Low.

ADELE - Amazing voice but WTF with that video??

It's time to listen some tunes from the other side of the pond, straight from London comes Adele with her second album titled "21" (knowing that her first album was called "19" lets us know that she likes to keep it simple with the titles, but anyways). 21 is set to be released on January 24, 2011 (which is very close to February when Gaga will release Born This Way!!!), but right now she has already dropped her first single called "Rolling In The Deep" which is basically an orgasm for our ears (yeah, it's THAT good) because this young woman has an incredible voice, she can reach those amazingly high notes without even putting much effort into it, and I don't mean it on a bad way, I totally love her now and I will buy her album as soon as it hits the stores and you should do that too!!

Here, only for your pleasure, I'll leave you the official video for her latest single Rolling In The Deep, which isn't that great, but, you can just close your eyes, put the volume up and enjoy it!

Rolling In The Deep - Adele

KATY PERRY -Wait, is she throwing fireworks from her boobs?

One of the best songs of the moment is "Firework" by Ms. Brand, I mean Katy Perry. It's from her latest album which is called Teenage Dream and even though I had previously talked about this album I haven't had the chance to tell you how awesome this song is. I truly believe it's one of the best pop songs of the year, and she definitely did a great job writing this song because it just fits her voice in an spectacular way. But well, enough of us kissing her ass, the reality is that this song is great because it transmits a really positive message to our generation.

Here's the official videoclip for this, Katy Perry's third single Firework from Teenage Dream. Hope you enjoy it!

Firework - Katy Perry

P.S. Isn't it so Gaga of her to throw fire from her boobs?

NICKI MINAJ - Is who you ain't f*cking with!

Now, it's been a while since this young lady jumped into the mainstream, but just last November she finally dropped her (anticipated) debut album called "Pink Friday". I think it's important for me to mention that Hip-Hop music is not so popular in my iPod, but Nicki Minaj has made me change that decision.

Minaj is bringing her best guns with her, she's full of theatricality, she's full of good rhymes and she has a great... voice. Just imagine that some critics had compared her to a black Lady Gaga, which she didn't find ofensive considering the epicness of that comparition ( I mean, Gaga! ). So, I truly suggest you to check her material and believe you won't be dissapointed at all!

Here is one of the singles from Pink Friday, it's called "Check It Out" and you can see frontman of the Black Eyed Peas, Will-I-Am in the track as well...

Check It Out (ft. Will-I-Am) - Nicki Minaj

And here is one of my FAVORITE tracks of her album, it's "Roman's Revenge" and well, the thing is that Nicki creates a lot of alter egos to her persona and it seems that Roman Zolanski is one of those. This track is dedicated to all the hatters and we can hear a featuring from Eminem. If it wasn't full of curse words, I think we could definitely hear it on the radio. Check it out!

LADY GAGA - For those that are in the waiting of Alejandro

One of the possible anthems of the summer according to MTV was Lady Gaga's single "Alejandro" from her album (not re-release) "The Fame Monster". So, the official video for the single was released a while ago. Now, some famous youtubers had been making their own version of the video and some of them, also of the song, so here is one example: her name is La Coacha and she sure is pretty funny (and mexican), her spanglish version of "Alejandro" will sure make you laugh a lot... Here it is...

Alejandro - La Coacha

And if you haven't heard the original song, (putting aside that you aren't gonna understand the parody) you sure are missing some good tunes, so for all of you, here it is... The original Gaga's version of "Alejandro" from "The Fame Monster"...

Alejandro - Lady Gaga

BRANDON FLOWERS - Only the young can...

For those of you who don't have a damn clue of who's Brandon Flowers (like me just a month ago), let me tell you that he's the vocalist of The Killers (yeah, the american rock band from Las Vegas... yes, i looked it up on Wikipedia ¿ok? ). It's important to mention that right now the band has taken a short break from being together (6 years on the road, so... they deserved it). According to them, pretty soon they will reunite to work on their next project, but in the meanwhile, the vocalist Brandon Flowers has decided to release his first solo album which is called Flamingo back in September of this year.

Flamingo comes with 15 songs (in the Deluxe package of course) and up to now, Brandon has released Crossfire's official video and has chosen "Only The Young" as his second single (amazing choice by the way). So, while we wait for the official video, let's enjoy the video for Crossfire...

Crossfire -Brandon Flowers

And here are also...
Only The Young - Brandon Flowers

And our favorite track on Flamingo...
Jilted Lovers & Broken Hearts - Brandon Flowers

KESHA - Cannibal? It sounds better than what you think, believe me...

Back from a long rest! At last! Here we are, writing for you about our favorite artists, music, movies and... actually everything we could think of... really. So, here we are with the young lady (LOL, couldn't resist, sorry) Ke$ha who just last month dropped her latest album untitled "Cannibal", which was surprisingly original considering her last album was called "Animal"... Anyways, this time somebody tried to go Gaga on their album and only decided to give us 8 new tracks (so The Fame Monster of you Ke$ha).

About the album, well we think that 8 tracks was the best decision for her since actually only 4 of the songs are "good", which is quite weird since those are REALLY good (yeah, we said it!). So, congrats to Ke$ha for her new album and we really hope she chooses as singles some of our choices.

Now, if you are anxious to listen some of her new stuff (or if you already downloaded ilegally ;) ) here are, according to us, the most promising songs of the album...

Sleazy - Ke$ha

Blow - Ke$ha

Uh, and before we forgot, here's her latest music video for "We R Who We R" which actually was one of our songs selection...
